The State of Washington, Department of Health, is responsible for issuing professional certifications for Allied Health occupations.В After completing a program at Bellevue College, you must apply to the Department of Health for professional certification in your occupation.В Part of that application process is to demonstrate that you have received appropriate training and have demonstrated competency.В This is accomplished by submitting the certification from Bellevue College.В Once you are certified by the Department of Health, you are then allowed to participate in that activity or occupation.This certificate may NOT allow you to directly participate in that activity or occupation. Upon successful completion of a program of study at Bellevue College, the College issues a certificate that acknowledges you have satisfied the requirements for an activity or profession.There are two types of certification for the Allied Health programs at Bellevue College.Certification is the acknowledgement or assurance that an individual has satisfied and completed the requirements to be competent in an activity or occupation.Licensure for Allied Health programs is NOT available in Washington State.

NONE of the Allied Health programs grant or lead to licensure.

Licensure is the legal right and responsibility to engage in an activity or occupation.

Other locations or institutions may have different requirements, you must check with that location or institution for their requirements.

Upon successful completion of the program, studentsВ areВ eligibleВ for Washington State MA-P (phlebotomist) certification. T Some courses have defined prerequisite or placement standards, please see the course catalog for requirements for these courses. * Both BIOL&241 and BIOL&242 must be completed to meet the anatomy and physiology standard, if this option is selected. Courses not listed, though of equivalent content (including transfer) may be eligible for substitution following the Bellevue College transfer and/or substitution policies. It prepares students for entry-level positions in clinical/medical laboratory settings. This certificate has a total of 50 вЂ“ 59 credits and is usually completed in four (4) quarters. Work settings include doctorвЂ™s offices, hospitals, research facilities, and industrial laboratories. Tasks include processing specimens, simple testing, reporting results, and performing data entry in a medical laboratory setting. Clinical laboratory assistants (CLA) perform the basic functions of medical laboratory work under the supervision of other medical laboratory professionals.
